The St Cuthbert’s Old Girls’ Association (SCOGA) is run by a voluntary committee representing over 5,000 financial members who are past students of St Cuthbert’s College. Our primary goals are to award scholarships and prizes to deserving students, to facilitate reunions and other social functions and to provide networking opportunities for our members. The overriding goal is to support the College in all its endeavours. Decade Reunions are held every year in March and the committee ensures that there are annual functions to encourage camaraderie and networking. At all of our functions, with the exception of the Decade Reunions, we welcome Old Girls and friends.
Currently we provide five scholarships to girls from Years 9 – 13. These are awarded to outstanding all-rounders who might not otherwise have the opportunity of a St Cuthbert’s College education.
One of the longest standing traditions at St Cuthbert’s College is the emphasis on learning. Learning, in its broadest sense, is valued and nurtured. When girls feel connected, supported and valued, then they are empowered to achieve and give to others. The College’s focus in developing girls who will embrace and value the benefits of a well-rounded education, encouraging each girl to strive to reach her full potential and participate in the many opportunities offered at the College. Over the past few years, St Cuthbert’s College has earned itself the honour of being the top academic school in New Zealand.
The SCOGA is always looking for ways in which we can support the College. We have initiated a Sports Coaching Co-operative whereby the SCOGA pays the salaries for talented Old Girls to return to the College to coach College sports teams. We have contributed financially to the College’s most recent development campaign and in the past, funds raised by the Old Girls enabled the building of the Old Girls’ Chapel. We anticipate continuing in this tradition of adding and enhancing the College’s facilities.
As past students, we treasure and value our St Cuthbert’s College education. We believe strongly in giving girls who would otherwise be unable to attend the College, the opportunity to do so. We are committed to our members - maintaining and rekindling College friendships and connections. Supporting this dynamic College is indeed a privilege.
We embrace our school motto, “By Love Serve,” and strive to achieve our goals for the betterment of the entire St Cuthbert’s College community.
