Academic Programme 2010
Dear Parents and Students,
The Academic Programme is the document containing information on all courses and programmes offered at St Cuthbert’s College from Year 7 to Year 13.
It is time for us to begin planning the option structure and staffing required for 2010 and we require the help of those students who will be in Years 7 to 13 next year. Your choice of courses will dictate our option structure and we would like you to consider carefully the courses open to you and to let us know these as soon as possible.
All the courses are grouped according to year levels and the course structure chart indicates which are the core or the option courses at each level.
In 2010 the College will offer students in Year 12 the choice of either NCEA or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) Programme. The choice of a qualification will, in some cases, influence decisions about subject selection. Students should be aware of this when planning course pathways.
While the information contained on our website is accurate at the time of going online, reviews undertaken by NZQA may result in some changes to the Achievement or Unit Standards as publicised.
We would like you to submit firm option choices online no later than Friday 14 August (NCEA) and Friday 31 July (IB). Any students making returns after this date may find that some courses are full and that an alternative must be chosen. The same will apply to any student who wishes to change options. This will be possible only if courses are not full and the new choices fit the option blocks.
We ask parents and their daughters to discuss the options carefully and to attend the Curriculum Information Evening. Students are invited to attend this evening with their parents so that they all may hear the information.
The Curriculum Information Evening will be held in Clouston Hall on Tuesday 21 July and will consist of a brief general session followed by an opportunity to meet teachers from each department and to ask questions.
If you require further help, please contact your daughter’s Dean or the staff member in charge of the course in which you are interested. A senior staff list is included in this section of the website for your information.
We hope that the Academic Programme may start you thinking about the various avenues open to you.
Ms Helen Robertson
Associate Principal
Head of Senior School
