Course Structure


IB Diploma

NCEA Levels 2, 3 and Scholarship

6 subjects studied over 2 years (Years 12-13) with internal assessment completed by mid Term 3 year two and external assessment at the end of the second year.

NCEA courses taught over one year with internal assessment during the year and external assessment at the end of the year.

One subject must be selected from each of the six
major areas of the curriculum

Six subjects studied in Year 12; English compulsory
Second language study is available at the beginners
level and more advanced level

Any five subjects studied in Year 13


Three of these subjects are studied at Higher Level
(240 hours), three at Standard Level (150 hours)

Students may enter one or more scholarship examinations

Students decide later in Year 12 which of their six
subjects to study at Higher Level

Scholarship winners receive a monetary award

Theory of Knowledge programme (TOK)

 
The Extended Essay (4000 words) based on one of the six subjects (EE)

 
CAS (creativity action service) minimum 150 hours

 
Students may enter one or more Scholarship
examinations.
