Futures (10FTRS)

Course Outline
The aim of this course is to encourage students to consider life beyond the immediate. The modules covered centre on the belief that well-informed planning is an evolving process that concerns the whole person in the ever-changing contexts of her life. It includes creative combinations of options that fi t with personal preferences, external infl uences and at its core is self-knowledge. 

Designed and delivered by the Careers, Advanced Learning and Guidance staff , the modules include:

  • key competencies of Participating and Contributing & Relating to Others by developing active listening skills - 14 active skills for auditory and visual attention - to demonstrate a sitting position to maximise attention
  • Higher Order Thinking Skills using Six Hat Thinking and Hyerle Thinking Maps and student-led questioning
  • personal identity, relationships and values and their impact on future choices
  • qualities of resilience
  • decision-making
  • work interests, including computer-based interest and ability inventories
  • CV production.

The course runs for half a term and is delivered to the students in the same term as they attend Kahunui.
