Music - Contemporary (9CMUS)
Course Outline
This course runs for two classes per cycle for two terms. The Contemporary Music programme is intended to give students contemporary musical experiences through creating, recreating and appreciating music by activities with a variety of learning opportunities.
The initial focus of the course is Rock Band, whereby students develop musical skills through learning and performing a range of modern songs. Students acquire a working knowledge of instruments such as vocals, guitar, bass guitar, drum kit and keyboard as well as a wide range of aural and organisational skills. There is an emphasis on team work, cooperation and fun through the challenge of creating live music.
