Physical Education (8PEDU)

Course Outline
The Year 8 course aims to build students understanding of successful game play. Therefore, the main theme for a range of units is called “The Thinking Player”. Skills need to be applied in more complex situations where strategy is important so that team decision making becomes a key factor for success.

Positive attitudes towards participating continue to be developed. Students are given increased opportunities to take responsibility, in group work. Interpersonal skills for inclusiveness and effective decision making are fostered in order to build effective teams.

Individual classes are generally doing different topics from other classes that are timetabled at the same time. However, all topics will be covered over the course of a year.


Assessment

• Development of skills and an understanding of safety management for aquatic activities – kayaking and water polo
• Creative exploration of movement patterns to demonstrate a range of complex movement sequences, with quality
• Development of large ball and racquet skills to show correct technique with consistency
• Performance in cross country – time in which the course was completed
• Willingness to accept challenges – excellent perseverance in challenging situations
• Positive interactions with other people – excelling in a wide range of communication skills.
