Course Outline 
This is a continuation of the Touché course in Years 7 and 8. Levels 3 and 4 of the New Zealand Curriculum are covered. Topics include describing people and what they are wearing, giving and following directions, describing a French town, making travel plans, ordering food and drink and talking about sport. 

Cultural topics covered in the course are aspects of life New Caledonia and Quebec. This course continues to develop the four essential language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Assessment 
Internal assessment: 
• Common tests assessing each of the four language skills 
• Two written internal examinations. 

Recommended Prior Achievement Level
Students must have covered New Zealand Curriculum Levels 1 and 2 and completed at least 100 hours of previous French tuition.

This course is for those with little or no previous experience in learning French.

Course Outline 
The emphasis of this course is on communication and students are encouraged to feel confident talking about themselves, their family and pets, school subjects and hobbies, food and drink, their house and town they live in, and giving and following directions. 

The course introduces and develops the concepts necessary for learning any foreign language. The four essential language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed. Cultural topics covered in the course are New Caledonia and Quebec.
