Te Reo Maori (9MAOR)
Course Outline
The emphasis in this introductory course is on communication. Students are taught to understand simple spoken Mãori in everyday situations. Students are also introduced to some aspects of Mãori life, both traditional and contemporary.
There is a four day marae living experience to foster knowledge of tikanga (cultural practices) for students to have the opportunity to learn about Mãori culture in an authentic situation in a different part of the North Island each year.
Assessment
Internal assessment.
Two internal examinations with listening, speaking, reading and writing strands.
