The Endeavour Scholarship Philosophy
In 2001 St Cuthbert's College, King's College and King's School launched a scholarship initiative which aims to enable young people of Maori and Pasifika descent to gain the qualifications which will help them take their place as leaders in our community.
The Endeavour Scholarships, which will eventually see 56 students assisted to attend the three schools, are funded by philanthropists and supporters of the schools of independent education and have the full support of leaders from Maori and Pacific Island communities.
- The girls' scholarship will cover education at St Cuthbert's College through Years 7 to 13.
- Boys will commence their education in Years 7 to 8 at King's School and then move to King's College for their secondary education in Years 9 to 13.
- Fundamental to the Endeavour scholarship programme is the principle that the schools, families and communities need to work together to encourage the students to reach their full potential.
- Scholarship students will share their cultural heritage and enrich the culture of the College.
- Every successful applicant's family will be assessed for its ability to pay independent school fees, with the amount of the scholarship being adjusted accordingly. Where families are assessed as unable to meet costs over and above tuition fees, such as uniforms, field trips etc, assistance will be offered.
- The management of the scholarship is structured to ensure that each student feels included and secure, with staff to support them and peer mentors to serve as role models.
