St Cuthbert’s student Amelia Cai, who has just finished Year 12, is the winner of this year’s Sunday Star-Times Short Story Awards secondary school category.

Now in its 35th year, this prestigious writing honour has previously been awarded to well-renown New Zealand authors such as Eleanor Catton.

In this recent Sunday Star-Times article, Amelia credits her English teacher, Rosalind Ali, for encouraging her to enter the competition.

We look forward to reading Amelia’s short story, A Fools Fantasy, when it is published in the Sunday Star-Times next year. Congratulations Amelia!
