Big results at The Big Sing!
The Big Sing 2018 National Finale Awards took place at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington last weekend, with St Cuthbert’s Black Watch Singers and Saints Alive both selected to participate as part of the Big Sing Gala Concert.
The Gala Concert features performances from the Top 24 choirs, who were chosen to compete from over 257 choirs across New Zealand. This year’s Big Sing Finale saw each of the 24 choirs present two recitals – a 10-minute performance of three items, and an 8-minute performance of two items. The recitals were then assessed by three judges, who awarded each choir with Bronze, Silver or Gold.
The Black Watch Singers and Saints Alive both sang exceptionally well and their performances were live-streamed across New Zealand and the globe!
The Black Watch Singers were awarded a Bronze New Zealand Choral Federation Award for their efforts and Saints Alive picked up a Gold award AND the Hutt City Trophy, which is awarded to the Best Performance in Category One (New Zealand of Pasifika composition).
A massive congratulations to everyone who was involved in the success of our choirs!
