Adventure Racing

Students may participate in Adventure Racing from year 9 -13.
They may choose to be a recreational racer and compete in selected events or may choose to meet the demands of the top teams and participate and compete on a regular basis.
We undertake a wide range of events including but not limited to: orienteering, rogaines, P6, Kathmandu Challenge, Get2Go, Hillary Challenge, Go412, and ARC.
Training days and times vary and it is best to check Mpower weekly for regular updates.

Go412 Competition Winners 2011

Please click here to read about our winning Adventure Racing team on the Mohaka River in Hawkes Bay.
Katy Morgan, Georgina Crum, Rebecca Gray and Shamini Mahadevan competed in five gruelling back-to-back events which tested their teamwork and communication skills.

Get2Go

Get2Go starts out as a regional inter-school competition in July or August for Year 9 and 10 students.
They compete over a day in activities such as rock climbing, orienteering, mountain biking and kayaking. We combine with Auckland Boys Grammar for mixed teams of boys and girls.
If they win the regionals then they compete over a week at Great Barrier Island in December. They are then challenged to meet the demands of short team outdoor challenges over 2 days, followed by a two day expedition and then a race home to the finish on the fifth day.
During training students are provided with a multitude of outdoor experiences and problem solving activities to develop teamwork, leadership, fitness and their ability to adapt in the outdoors.

Hillary Challenge-May

Senior students combine with Auckland Boys Grammar to make a team of eight to compete at the Hillary Challenge. This is the ultimate 5 day challenge for seniors, testing endurance, teamwork and outdoor skills.
Being well prepared and competitive is the key to success. Just qualifying for the event is testing and requires a lot of effort. (Qualifiers are in September)
