Korean Group

The newest cultural group at St Cuthbert’s College was honoured at the recent Polyfest.
The new Korean Group (along with our Indian Group) gave such an outstanding performance that the Polyfest organisers requested them to repeat their performance on the closing day.
The Korean Group performed what’s known as a new traditional dance. It is named Buchaechum, and is a fan dance created by Kim Baek-bong.
It was first presented in public in 1954 and is often danced during Korean celebrations. The dancers fans to represent images like flowers, butterflies and waves and wear hanbok, brightly coloured Korean traditional dress.
