NZ Curriculum Levels 5 & 6 Statistics

A day full of statistical thinking

Facilitator:
Mrs Jeanette Saunders, HOD Mathematics

NZC has brought significant changes to statistics objectives, but do not panic: you do not have to invent this teaching and learning wheel for yourself. Resources have been developed and are ready for use with classes at years 10 and 11.
Whether you were unable to attend last year’s AMA Statistic’s Day or would like a more thorough exploration of the teaching sequence and activities, this is the workshop for you.
It will start with activities for Year 10 concepts and then extend them to Year 11. Jeanette insists she is not an expert on AS 1.10, but is happy to share her ideas and facilitate a discussion.

NZ Curriculum Level 8 Statistics

Models for Teaching the new objectives.

Facilitator:
Mrs Jeanette Saunders HOD Mathematics

Teachers will become familiar with new curriculum objectives for Level 8 Statistics:
- Conducting experiments using experimental design principles
- Using methods such as re-sampling and randomisation to assess strength of evidence
- Interpreting risk and relative risk (Level 7)

Participants will leave with activities they can use both in their own classrooms and with fellow teachers.

Please look out for programmes similar to this in 2011. We will post them here as soon as they are finalised.
