The Arts

The Arts Curriculum incorporates 4 disciplines:
visual art, dance, drama and music.

The classroom teacher in Y1-6  is responsible for art, dance and drama with specialist music teachers responsible for music programmes although classroom teachers often integrate it in the classroom as well.
Many colourful examples of students’ visual art, including 3D works, are displayed with pride around the Junior School.
We are fortunate at St Cuthbert’s College to have support from the drama department based in the Senior School and to have a separate purpose built Dance room in the Junior School.

The Arts programme in Y7-8 is taught by specialist  teachers with classroom teachers incorporating aspects of each subject into class programmes where appropriate.

Professional development for the Arts is available to teachers and a range of appropriate resources continue to be developed.
