The Year 3 Camp was on Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April. We started off with a day trip to the Auckland Museum where the girls enjoyed a cultural performance and also learning about story telling in the Maori culture. While we were at the museum, we had time to do self guided tours around the Anzac and Air NZ exhibitions.
The girls returned back to school at 5.30pm, after their day trip to the museum, for a family picnic. Everyone enjoyed relaxing in the afternoon sunshine while eating their dinner and socialising. When it was time to head back to the classrooms for the sleepover, the girls kissed their parents goodbye and off we went!
The sleepover was a lot of fun! The girls changed into their pyjamas, played a few team building games, ate supper, brushed their teeth and then hopped into their sleeping bags. We read stories together and then it was lights off… Sleep came quickly for some and not so quickly for others!
In the morning, they woke up, packed up and ate breakfast in the classroom; rice bubbles, cornflakes, toast and fruit. We set the rooms back to normal and headed out on the bus to Totara Park. We hiked our way from Totara Park to the Auckland Botanical Gardens. On the way we investigated the flora and fauna, using iPads to record what we could see and hear. Once we made it to the end of the walk, the girls enjoyed a well deserved ice block!
The Year 3 Camp was a wonderful experience. The girls learnt about being resilient and they all had a spectacular time.
