As we enter the last part of our winter sports season our girls have competed in a range of annual events. The cross country was a challenging event and our girls showed resilience and determination. My thanks to all of the PE and sports staff for their organisation of this event. It is always great to see our girls acknowledging their personal best or their growth in particular skills.
Our girls competed in the annual Gymnastics Zone Day. My thanks to coaches, Mrs Lisa Jane and Miss Dannaka Dorrington for their work with these girls. Congratulations to all girls who represented the College so very well.
Please see the results for both sporting events detailed in the Sport Report section of this newsletter.
Maestro Stewart Allen organised for the Strike percussion group to play for our girls last Friday. The feedback from the girls was, ‘It was amazing!’ In my council meetings with the class representatives it was unanimous that they would love this group to come back next year. It was an interactive concert with lots of drums and percussion and the girls making music as well as a rainforest storm. This truly was an amazing experience for our girls.
The Junior School Showcase this year was spectacular. My thanks to our skilled and passionate teachers for their work with the girls. The art of taking daily classroom learning and threading this skill development into a shared experience with an audience gives our girls a deeper understanding of viewing, writing, presenting and speaking. These are all key components of the English curriculum. My thanks to our community for being such a wonderful, supportive audience for our girls
International Languages Week Crêpe Day
Madame Birgitta Hartinger organised our annual Crêpe Day in celebration of International Languages Week. The girls and staff loved this treat of le chocolat or citron crêpes. The girls also had to speak in French when getting their crêpe. Well done to Birgitta on organising this tasty opportunity.
Welcome to Mr Aniel Smith
Aniel will be joining our Junior School Staff team. Over the next few weeks he will be relieving in the Junior School. He will then work in Year 6 and in PE with our Junior School girls.
