As this is the last College Connection before Mrs Reid ends her time at the College I would like to personally thank her for her dedication to the Junior School. We will be farewelling Mrs Reid at the Junior School assembly next Friday. We wish Mrs Reid and her family all the very best for their future adventures in France.

My thanks to our Year 6 teachers and Year 6 parent committees for their organisation of the launch of this year’s Year 6 Graduation reception. Our Year 6 girls were very surprised to meet at the Chapel and find the parents and I dressed in themed attire. The girls each received their invitations for their graduation in their house groups. It was a very special occasion.
Our Reception class parents were treated to an evening of cultural dance, song and poetry. The girls shared their learning with their parents and grandparents showcasing the Arts and Social Sciences. My thanks to Senior Dean Mrs Glenys Waller and teacher Mrs Nikki Karsten for their wonderful work with these girls. The girls also enjoyed their shared dinner of pizza and icecream. My thanks to all families for the beautiful shared meal.
Today the Year 1 community had a special family afternoon tea. These opportunities to build community and get to know each other is very important. My thanks to Mrs Rosemary Mowbray and Mrs Sheryl Meredith for the amazing work they have done with these young girls.
Mother and Daughter Breakfast – Michelle Dickinson “Nanogirl”
This morning we were treated to listening to superhero Nanogirl, Dr Michelle Dickinson speaking to a packed hall of girls, their mums and grandmothers. Michelle is a senior lecturer in Engineering at the University of Auckland and she is co-founder of the charity OMG Tech. She inspired the captive audience to inquire and delight in how things work and to solve problems in science and technology. Michelle will be working in the Junior and Middle School as a follow up to this inspiring session with some practical Science sessions.
My sincere thanks to the P&F organising team ably led by Maude Wilcox. The many hours of organisation, beautiful table settings and food were stunning.
