On Tuesday 13 September, the Year 1 and 2 Jammers Choir left school just before morning tea and walked across the road to Elizabeth Knox Home.
Everyone was so excited!
The Year 2 girls introduced each song we sang and we finished with a short prayer.
All the girls sang beautifully, spoke beautifully, behaved beautifully and the residents loved them! They got cheers from their audience and lots of hearty claps!
It was our school mufti day and one of the Year 2 girls told everyone about our fundraising for Mobility Dogs. Paula, who is our contact at Knox Home, told us about Olive, the Mobility Dog that visits them regularly. She was able to tell the girls about a friend’s daughter who is very excited about getting her first Mobility Dog very soon.
The girls also met May, an Old Girl of St Cuthbert’s. They loved singing to her as she sat in her wheelchair with her black watch tartan rug over her knees!
Before we left, Teresa Sun gave Paula a jar of tamarillo jam for the residents to have on their morning toast.
Many thanks to Mrs Burrowes and Mrs Gould who came with us. They helped make it a very special occasion.
