The Remuera Mathex Competition was held on Thursday 8 September. There were 26 teams in both the Year 5 and Year 6 competition. Each competition has 20 questions. The winner is the first to 100 points or the team with the highest score when the twenty minutes is up.
In Year 6 our A team was Jennifer Zhang, Jasmine Liu, Emma Ying, and Georgie Huxford. They came 1st, reaching 100 points with five and half minutes to go. The next highest score was 95. Our B team were Alexandra Bow, Zoe Churm, Zoe Guan, and Sasha Situe. They came joint 3rd with 85 points.
Our Year 5 A team also came 1st. They were Sophie Robb, Renee Zhang, Kaitlin Toes, and Alexandra Fletcher. They reached 100 points with 8 minutes to go. The next team to get 100 took around 19 minutes. Our B team were Ella Cham, Teresa Yu, Dilani Dinesh, and Lucy Hawke. They reached 85 points, which was the 3rd highest score.
It was a very exciting competition. We were impressed with the depth of talent in the girls but also how well they worked together in their teams. The B teams had just as big a grin on their faces at the end as the A teams who won.
