We are delighted to welcome our new students and their families to the College. I am always so pleased to see our community spirit in the warmth of welcome students and parents give to our newest St Cuthbert’s members.
The Year 3 Family Chapel Service was held on Sunday where we took the opportunity to farewell Mrs Mandy Simon. Thank you to Reverend Gahegan for yet another delightful chapel service. We wish Mrs Simon all the very best and thank her for the wonderful contributions to our Year 3 team and Junior School.
Junior School girls will continue to do the great job of waiting with duty staff at the bottom of the drive, and not on the Middle School deck. Thank you for your continued support of this safety measure.
Today we held our Cultural Assembly, and many awards and leadership certificates were presented. Recently we have had our Netball and Hockey Prize Givings, and last night students from across the College performed a marvellous concert; the Performers’ Evening. These events celebrate the wide involvement that our students have in so many areas. Each of these enable our girls opportunities in many areas of learning and contribute to a connected community.
Year 13 Junior School Committee
Thank you to the Year 13 Junior School Committee for all their hard work this year. They have organised a number of events for Junior School girls, including a movie night and Easter Bonnet Parade, have joined in lunchtime fun and will be helping at the Year 6 Graduation next week. This week we gathered in the playground to say thank you for all their support.
Following this special assembly I received an email from co-leader of the committee, Rochelle Austin, saying how much she has enjoyed working with Junior School students this year, and the memories of her time as a Junior School student. Rochelle says, “The singing was amazing, I remember being the little girl reading the song boards Mrs Porter made. This morning is something that I will hold in my heart for a very long time. Thank you so much.”
The importance of this big girl little girl relationship is imperative to our connected community and is a key part of what makes St Cuthbert’s College such a special place.
Congratulations to the Year 6 students who were involved in organising this week’s Bake Sale, and to the many girls and parents who donated baking. Their efforts raised $730 for Mobility Dogs and SPCA. Well done!
Junior School Sustainability Challenge
This week four teams of Year 5 and 6 girls took part in the Junior School Sustainability Challenge at Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manurewa. Along the way, in the two hour event, we did challenges. These were all about plants and birds. My favourite was naming New Zealand’s native birds and what they ate.
