Year 6 Graduation
Thank you to the Year 6 staff and the Year 6 parents for their amazing work in preparation for last Friday night’s Year 6 Graduation. Every Year 6 parent has been on a committee. It was incredible to see the Clouston Hall transform last week into a royal reception. The girls were very excited to attend their special night and share their learning with their parents. My thanks to the Year 6 teachers and Junior School specialist teachers for their work with the girls in building this connected, innovative and enjoyable celebration of learning.
Farewell to Year 13 Students
Last Friday our Reception – Year 3 girls farewelled our Year 13s in a special College assembly. This event has been a tradition in the College. Our girls sang, danced and delivered special prayers for our Year 13 girls as they head into study leave for exams. Our Year 13s treasured this special farewell and there were lots of ‘oohs and ahs’ for the cute factor of our Junior girls’ performances. Our girls felt very special being included and they had so much fun!
Year 3-6 Athletics Day
Our annual Year 3-6 Athletics Day was held on Thursday. The wonderful House spirit was visible through the House coloured attire and the House chants. Every girl gave their all in the races, throws and jumps, each earning points for their house. In the finals of the Year 5 and 6 high jump you could have heard a pin drop as the huge crowd of supporters eagerly watched our girls strive for new heights. My thanks to Mr Des Knight and Miss Stevie-Jean Nicholson for their organisation for the day with our Sports, PE and Junior School staff. It was great to see so many parents cheering and encouraging our girls. The day was so much fun!
Junior and Middle School Music Showcase
The music showcase was held this week. It was inspiring to see the multi-levelling of our girls in the many and varied choral and instrumental groups. As an audience it was evident to see the joy and happiness in learning the girls experience in these groups with thanks to the skill and passion of our music specialist staff. Once again having some of the King’s School musicians join in the bands for this evening was wonderful. This is another fine example of our connected community in action.
New Student Orientation
This week we welcomed our new families for 2017 to the College. It is always lovely to see our newest students settle into class and make friends so quickly. My thanks to the Admissions and Development teams for hosting the new parent function that same evening. Evenings like this help us to build relationships and a great opportunity for our parents to get to know each other.
