St Cuthbert’s College Open Day: 19 March
All Year 7 and 8 girls are expected to attend on Open Day. It is a part of their service to the College. Many of the girls will have multiple commitments on the day and their tutor teachers will ensure they have a plan for the day in their diary. The girls will be at school in full uniform and will be required at school from 11.30am through to 3.00pm. Our girls are the best advocates for our Middle School and we really do appreciate your support in having them attend our annual Open Day. Our House Captains and their Deputies will stand out as they will be in their House Colours. All other Middle School leaders will be expected to attend and will have a role on the day.
Year 8 Camp
A great week at Year 8 Camp last week. I was very proud of all of our girls. The weather started off a little dodgy but by Tuesday afternoon the rain had subsided and the sun began to shine. It was great to see the girls who missed their camping out experience so happily putting up the tents for other girls. A By Love Serve attitude, team-work and leadership potential was displayed by some who put up at least three or four tents. Some quick thinking on Ms Katie Vujcich’s behalf saw this group coming down to the camp site on Thursday night so that they got to experience all of the activities they had missed on the rainy Monday night; roasting marshmallows over an open fire and of course, the scary Burma Trail. I saw many girls pushing their own boundaries as they tackled a wide range of activities such as abseiling, tramping, BMX biking and cooking over open fires. A huge thanks to the parents who supported us by attending the camp. We can’t do it without you and you will have seen just how much value and personal growth your daughters gain from this education outside the classroom experience.
Following on from camp, many of our Year 8 girls have been interviewed for the leadership positions they applied for in the first few weeks of the term. The Year 8 team, Deb and I enjoyed getting to know the girls on camp and we know we are in good hands this year.
