The 40 Hour Famine has always been about putting yourself in somebody else’s shoes. This year, St Cuthbert’s girls will be putting themselves in the shoes of a child refugee for 40 hours. Funds will support children and families who have been affected by the conflict in Syria. We encourage all girls to give it a go, it is not about who can raise the most, it’s about understanding what children our age and even younger are going through. Even a dollar can provide a child with clean water or one meal. Values Reps have been hard at work asking people to sign up. Girls are not encouraged to go without food for 40 hours, but to think creatively and commit themselves to doing the challenge in another way, such as a technology or no talking challenge. A large number of girls have taken this on board and signed up with their friends and have even planned to spend a weekend together and give something up.
