On Monday 16 May, we went on the the Year 7 camp to Motutapu Island for five days. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it very much. It was a great experience.
My best highlight of camp was the geo tramp because we went off in groups of four, including the adult. In my group I had Maddi, Jade and we had David as our adult. The point of the geo tramp was to locate where lots of geo caches were hidden. There were eight hidden. Jade, Maddi, David and I ran most of the geo tramp! We also had a lot of fun at the beach that we stopped at for afternoon tea.
One of my other highlights of camp was the survivor challenge. Unfortunately when we did the survivor challenge it was pouring with rain! We got split into two teams and and had to complete lots of challenges. One of the challenges was that we had to cross swinging tyres and under the tyres was a muddy pond. Even though I got very wet and muddy, it was fun and exciting!
One of the embarrassing moments of camp was the parent skit. It was so funny and when my dad came on stage his pants were down too low! The parents were pretending that they were on The Block. They were also trying to do a ‘Dab dance’. The teachers did a few skits that entertained us all.
I definitely did a lot of things that were out of my comfort zone but I really enjoyed it. For some of the activities we had to trust the adults and our friends a lot. The Year 7 camp provided us with lots of opportunities. I can’t wait till the Year 8 camp.
