A big congratulations to the Year 8 Team 4 netball team for receiving the runner up prize of the Year 8 F section. The Year 7 and 8 prizegiving was held at the ANC Netball Centre and the girls represented themselves and the College exceptionally.
Congratulations to Jaime Lewis and Issy Richardson for winning the Interzone Cross Country last week in their respective year groups. It was a busy week for Jaime as she also participated with her team in the Future Problem Solving Lockdown – a two hour problem solving activity the girls participate in, which decides whether or not they make it to the NZ National Finals in November.
Congratulations also to Jess Robinson who was the runner up in the Prepared Speech Competition at the Auckland Central Remuera Speech Cluster Final and to Lauren Sharma who received an honourable mention in the Impromptu Speech Competition on Wednesday this week. The standards were very high and we are very impressed with these results.
The Year 7 girls have had lovely weather for their EOTC experiences at Mangere Mountain this week. This is a valuable learning experience for our girls as they learn about Aotearoa in pre-European times. The Celebration of Learning is a great opportunity for our Year 7 girls to share their learning journey with their extended families so thanks for your support today.
Our athletes have returned from NZAIMS with mixed results and amazing stories. The full week away focusing on sport takes our girls to a new level in their chosen discipline and our coaches, managers, and the many parents and grandparents at NZAIMS supporting the girls saw each and every one of them rising to the challenges they faced as they became tired, and had to deal with the highs and lows of winning and losing and having to get back up and out there again, sometimes in glorious sunshine, and sometimes in cold, wet, and dark conditions.
As we approach the end of Term 3, our Year 8 Dean Melinda Crookenden is putting a letter in the Week Ahead requesting parent helpers to sign up for Year 8 camp next year. So, current Year 7 parents, please check the Week Ahead and get yourself organised to attend. It is an amazing week and the girls love having you there. The camp is at Totara Springs in Matamata.
