Our Class Coordinators, led so well over the last two years by Megan Fala, hosted the most amazing Year 7 and 8 parents’ function at The Spotted Pig last night. We had around 150 parents mixing and mingling and it was so great to hear your feedback about the year. I hope some of you are considering taking on the role of Class Coordinator in Year 8 now that you know how much fun it is.
We welcomed our new Principal Ms Roz Mexted into the College on Tuesday this week and our Middle School Kapa Haka girls did us proud as they joined with Junior School and Senior School girls to give Ms Mexted the warmest of welcomes.
In science today girls were dropping eggs from the first floor of the Atrium. I can report that science learning is going incredibly well; as the eggs were landing on target and not breaking!
Some of our Year 8 girls spent the day on Thursday helping Junior School teachers and sports staff to organise the Year 3 – 6 Athletics Day. We are so grateful for the opportunity for our girls to show leadership and service and to be role models and mentors for the Junior School girls. The Junior School girls enjoy the camaraderie of the Middle School girls just as our Middle School girls enjoy that of the Senior School girls.
This morning some of our Year 7 girls were invited to sing at the Junior School Dunblane assembly. We love these connections as it gives us an opportunity to share what we do with the Junior School girls, just as they shared what they do with us at the Junior School and Middle School Music Showcase on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday we welcomed all of the new families joining the College in 2017. Mrs Crookenden and her students hosted the new girls and ensured they felt absolutely at home.
We look forward to spending time with all of you over the next few weeks as we celebrate another great year of learning in the Middle School. Keep an eye on the Week Ahead for dates and times.
Ms Marg Talbot
Head of Middle School
