On Year 8’s Blast Off Day, Juliana Carvalho dos Santos, originally from Brazil, came to talk to us about what’s changed in her life since being in a wheelchair. She has been in a wheelchair since she was nineteen, following a sudden emergency trip to the hospital with flu-like symptoms. Within 48 hours she was completely paralyzed.
Over time she managed to be able to use her arms again but unfortunately not so her legs. Despite being in a wheelchair she is still very happy and grateful for being alive. She told us how we can also still be happy even if life throws us an obstacle. We learnt about how she has managed over the last 14 years and how it actually changed her for the better. She was very inspirational and taught us how we can still be happy even if we are limited in some sort of way. I thoroughly enjoyed her visit and I think everybody else did as well.
