Term 1 is nearing an end and we are seeing the term out with a big bang. Many of you will be going to Seussical, and what a great production. The Year 7 and 8 girls said farewell to Ms Robertson at their assembly today. The Year 8’s have fond memories of Ms Robertson talking to them last year about her travels in Nepal and it was important for them to be able to say thank you for her many years of service to St Cuthbert’s College.
Our girls have shown great flexibility as Ms Goer and her team reshuffle sports trials to avoid the stormy weather Auckland is experiencing at the moment. The weather will not prevent us from having our next get-together though. Please do put Thursday 25 May aside in your diaries and class coordinators will be in touch at the beginning of Term 2 with details of a soiree for parents on this evening.
The annual Easter egg collection is on in the Middle School and it is always very rewarding to see how generous our girls and their families are at this time of year. Next term sees a focus on careers in the Middle School, and our careers morning is on Tuesday 13 June. We are looking for volunteers to come in and share their stories with our girls so please do think about this. As we think about the types of career pathways our girls will follow in ten years or more, we are focused on building their learning power. Whilst the types of work they may engage in is an unknown to us, we do have a good idea about the attributes we need to develop in our girls. So we work with our girls on building their “Learning Power”.
Grandparent’s day is fast approaching too. This is being held on Thursday 11 May. On this day our students proudly show off the College to their grandparents and other special family friends. More information will be coming out at the start of Term 2 as we get ready to welcome and celebrate these incredibly important people. I wish you all a very restful Easter and I know the focus will be on recharging the batteries for our girls over the break as we get ready for the challenges ahead in Term 2.
