Over the course of term 1, Year 11 NCEA Physical Education students have been putting strategies in place to support and identify how responsible behaviours affect themselves and others in the context of the outdoors. By using the experiential model of learning, they get a taste of an activity, are introduced to it, practice, trial and then get other opportunities to improve and develop.
Problem solving challenges, kayaking, low ropes course, paddle boarding and shortly rock climbing will give them the opportunity to implement strategies for responsible behaviour and recognise the impact that they have. Feedback is an important part of the process and students are learning to be honest and open with each other. This reflective model has students actively engaging with the task and giving some critical thought as to where to from here.
