The Level 3 Geographers had a wonderful time in Rotorua last week collecting data for their internal assessment. Students examined the idea of sustainability of tourism in Rotorua.
The students visited a range of places including:
-Te Puia (which has a very clear focus on social sustainability).
– The Skyline Gondola.
– The Luge (with a focus on environmental sustainability).
– The Agrodome (where students discovered ways in which the Agrodome’s core business remains excellent but grows through developing off shoots such as Farm shows and restaurants).
The highlight of the trip was going to Tamaki Tours where the students had a traditional Māori welcome, saw what life was like in pre European times and enjoyed a hangi meal along with a traditional New Zealand sing along session.
The girls even had fun on the bus ride home to Auckland singing songs from a range of eras – Adele to Billy Joel and even Elvis got a mention!
Overall, the data was collected and the girls had fun.
