The maker movement is becoming a popular initiative in New Zealand and strongly supports the development of STEM skills. The Technology department has started a Maker Club that will begin in Term 2, to allow students the chance to explore the maker culture and use techniques and materials they may not have experienced before.
The group will meet on a Monday after school in the Technology classrooms. It is open to girls from Year 7 to Year 13; there are many different types of maker activities they can elect to be part of.
Options for the Year 7 – 13 Maker activities will be provided to students and a mixture of the activities will be supported each week:
- Laser cutting
- Polymer clay modelling
- 3D design and printing
- Textiles Design stars
