Classics Research

Miss Ngaire Boyes’ eyes sparkle when she talks about her impending trip to Egypt, Lebanon, Libya and Tunisia. She’ll be touring through some of the world’s most ancient archaeological sights and she can’t wait.
You may be mistaken for thinking the Y13 Classics teacher is crazy for wanting to go to a few of these places, but Miss Boyes, who was recently awarded a Staff Scholarship, says there are no other places she’d rather go.
The scholarship will take her to Leptis Magna in Libya to study the Leptis Magna Theatre and Hadrians Baths.  She will also study selected parts of the city of Alexandria in Egypt , the Temple of Bacchus at Baalbek in Lebanon and the Aeneid at Carthage in Tunisia.
Miss Boyes applied for the scholarship to help develop three areas of the College:
Resources for History, Art and Classical Studies, materials which will support gifted and talented students and intranet resources which will complement work in the Senior School Latin and Classical Studies courses.
