Love of Reading

The Manager of the Smith Gray Library and Learning Centre, Barbara Newman, has had her outstanding dedication to the College rewarded.
Barbara has been presented with a School Library Association of New Zealand Award of merit for Literacy and the Enjoyment of Reading in July 2007.
This award recognises her vast knowledge of children’s literature and her wonderful way of encouraging students to read and enjoy books.
Barbara’s mentoring of teams entered into the Kids Lit Quiz in recent years has been very successful and this year is no different. They gained from her experience and wisdom to win the National competition and be flown to England to compete in the International Lit Quiz.
