The Chaplain

"I have been part of the St Cuthbert’s College community since the beginning of 2007, having returned after nearly twenty years living in Italy and the UK. I trained and worked as a Secondary Teacher in New Zealand in my twenties, and have taught in a variety of contexts and institutions since then. I am an Anglican Priest, and was trained and ordained within the Diocese of Southwark, in London. I have undertaken three years of training within the Ignatian tradition of spiritual direction.
When I left London, I was working in a parish in South-East London, and as a volunteer within the Chaplaincy at St Thomas’ Hospital.
I have two fifteen-year-old daughters who attend the College. I believe the Spirit of God is moving through us, God’s people.
Often our lives are so busy and we are so distracted that we just don’t notice. We lack the space and means to pay attention to what is there to see if we only turn and look. The Chapel and chapel services provide the College community with place and space for prayer, worship, and reflection.
My ministry as Chaplain is to empower and equip everyone and anyone within the College on their personal and collective journeys of exploration into faith.
This is a journey into the experience of the love of God for us all. It begins wherever we are now, whether we are students, staff, parents, or Old Girls. As a Priest my foundational calling is to preach the Gospel of Christ in word and action, to seek to embody the love of God poured out for all of creation.
The calling and claim of God upon all our lives is beautifully articulated through Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians, the College Chapter, and well summarized by the St Cuthbert’s College Motto - By Love Serve"
