“Success is a journey, not a destination.” – Ben Sweetland

The Senior School is the time when girls are giving serious thought to their future study and career pathways. Our intention is to ensure that every student transitions effectively from our College into life beyond.

Making a decision about the right course and right university can be challenging. At St Cuthbert’s our Careers Department will guide your daughter through the various undergraduate programmes available to her and provide information on a wide range of universities in New Zealand and overseas. Applications for university financial scholarships are also managed, very successfully, by our Head of Careers with 69 scholarship offers for study here and abroad received by 2016 College graduates.

All Senior Academy students receive individual appointments with our Head of Careers to discuss their learning passions and aptitudes, preferred areas of study and career goals; helping them identify their potential pathways for the future.

Our Career Mentoring and Guest Speaker Programme exposes Year 12 and 13 students to a variety of career options with up to 40 professionals from a range of industries coming to the College to meet with girls and share their experiences and advice. We also host New Zealand and international university presentations and course planning workshops for Year 13 students to equip them as they transition into tertiary training.

In the years before Senior Academy we run a Career Education Programme which forms a foundation that students can make informed decisions about their future from. At this time in their education we encourage girls to keep their subject choice broad enough to allow for a change of direction as they explore all their options.
