Technology challenges students to identify needs and opportunities from a given issue, and to use theory and practical skills to develop solutions. Units of work will be based in Food Technology, Materials and Structures and Mechanisms. This course builds on varying levels of prior knowledge and aims to empower students to make informed choices to create, design and develop technological outcomes. Technology aims to help students: – develop and understand technological practice – to gain skills for and understanding of a rapidly changing technological world – to better understand the influences and diversity of global culture – to understand technical, social, ethical, political and economic issues – prepare for jobs which do not yet exist.
