Eight St Cuthbert’s College students were finalists at the 27th Annual College Sports Auckland Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

Madison Doar won the overall award for young Sportswoman of the Year Award for hockey.  She also won the Hockey award and was a finalist in Distance Running.

Bernadette Doyle was a finalist in the overall Young Sportswoman of the Year Award and won the Water Polo category.

Kendall Vaughan won the Distance Runner title and was a finalist in the All Rounder category. Estella Matthewson won the Gymsports category. Caitlin Mary Parker Allen was a finalist in Water Polo. Katie Doar and Tonya Botherway were finalists in the Hockey category. Georgia Fyfe was a finalist in the Squash category.

Madi couldn’t be at the awards presentation at Eden Park on Thursday 23 November because she is playing for the Black Sticks preparing for the World League semi-final clash against England in Auckland tonight. Her sister Katie received the award on her behalf.

St Cuthbert’s teams of distance running, hockey and water polo were acknowledged for winning their respective national titles.
